How a Hidden Dog Fence Works

No posts, no panels, no guesswork. Here is the whole process, from the first walk of your yard to your dog running it freely.

The Basics

Three parts working together

A hidden fence is simple, proven technology. There are only three pieces to it, and your dog only ever notices one of them.

  • The transmitter mounts in your garage and sends a low-power radio signal through the boundary wire.
  • The boundary wire is buried a few inches underground around the area you want your dog to stay inside.
  • The collar receiver gives a warning tone as your dog nears the line, then a mild static cue if they keep going.

Because the wire is underground, there is nothing to see, mow around, or maintain on the surface. Your yard looks exactly the way it does today.

Our Process

From first call to free-roaming dog

We take care of the planning, the digging, and the training so you do not have to.

1

Free Consultation

We come to you, walk the property, meet your dog, and talk through the boundary you have in mind. You get an exact quote before we leave.

2

Professional Install

On install day our crew flags the layout, buries the wire below mowing depth, crosses any driveways, and mounts and tests the transmitter.

3

Gentle Training

A certified trainer starts your dog on the HomeRange Method, teaching the new boundary with flags, treats, and praise.

4

Free to Roam

Once your dog knows the line, the flags come down and the yard is theirs. We check in and keep you supplied with batteries.

The HomeRange Method

Training that is kind and that sticks

The fence is only half the job. A dog that understands the boundary is calm and confident, not anxious. That is why every install includes our HomeRange Method, run by a certified, background-checked trainer.

  • Week one: short, upbeat sessions teach your dog the boundary flags with treats and praise. No static cue yet.
  • Week two: we add the warning tone and supervised practice so your dog learns to turn back on their own.
  • Ongoing: we leave you a simple daily routine, and we come back for a free refresher if your dog ever needs one.

The method works for puppies as young as five months, newly adopted rescues, and older dogs alike.

Common Concerns

Is this gentle, and does it last?

Two things every responsible owner wants to know, answered straight.

Is the static cue humane?

The cue is a brief, mild static sensation, the kind of tiny shock you get from a doorknob. It surprises rather than hurts, and our reward-first training means most dogs respond to the warning tone and never feel the cue at all. We fit and set every collar to your specific dog.

What about power and weather?

The buried wire is rated to last for years through heat, drought, and storms. If the power goes out, your transmitter has a battery backup option, and a built-in alarm tells you if a wire is ever damaged so we can come locate and repair it fast.
